Location: Dudley, NSW
Completed: 2009

Izzat Consulting Engineers was commissioned to carry out the civil engineering design and documentation for a proposed new residence at Dudley. The site is located on a steep slope and the home consisting of a total of 5 floor levels.
Extensive civil works were undertaken to construct retaining walls and cuttings through rock consisting of vertical zones of unstable material. Retaining wall types included rock bolted shotcrete, cantilevered blockwork, dead-man anchored blockwork, gravity stone walls and reinforced earth segmental block walls. A rock artist was used to shape the shotcrete into artificial stone.
Site specific challenges included slope instability issues, bush fire restrictions, mine subsidence restrictions, earthquake loads and a highly corrosive marine environment. The project was successfully completed in late 2009.
