Izzat were engaged to carry out assessments of two Energy Australia-owned bridges located at Lake Lyell, NSW. One bridge forms a section of the main two-lane roadway where it traverses the spillway. The other is a single lane access bridge to the lake outlet tower.
The assessments were to include a detailed inspection of the structure of each bridge to visually rate and record the condition of all accessible elements, plus a capacity assessment of all critical elements in accordance with the Australian Standards Bridge Design Set AS 5100:2017.
Izzat engineers worked with NCS to secure suitable inspection equipment that would provide close proximity access to meet the requirements of a Level 2 inspection. Systematic inspections were then carried out on all bridge elements in accordance with RTA Bridge Inspection Manual Procedures.
Based on supplied drawings and inspection observations, Izzat engineers next completed a detailed structural analysis of each bridge to assess capacity for road traffic loading as specified in the Australian Standards. Two full condition assessment and loading reports, including site photos and recommendations, were delivered.
