Investigation/Remediation of Existing Pool at Sandy Cove Apartments

Izzat Consulting Engineers was engaged by the Owners Corporation to undertake concrete investigations for the pool and surrounding pool deck as a result of water leaks into the basement car park below.

Inspections identified failure of the waterproofing and joint sealants. Specialist concrete testing identified corrosion of reinforcement within the saturated concrete structure, and had high chloride levels due to exposure to the pool water. The concrete structure was repaired with sacrificial anodes, the pool surface was waterproofed, and new tiles were installed.

Izzat acted as Superintendent for the works, and repairs were successfully completed in 2013.
