Investigation and Remediation of York Apartments

The Owners Corporation engaged Izzat Consulting Engineers to investigate water ingress and corrosion issues at a high rise residential building, less than 100m from Newcastle Beach. The high-rise building is subjected to high wind loads and durability issues due to the exposed beachfront location.

Site investigations were undertaken identifying failure of the roof membrane, failure of concrete protective coatings and corrosion of galvanised awning brackets on balconies. Additionally, the face-sealed concrete framed and precast concrete infill panel façade had failure of joint sealants.

Izzat produced specifications and drawings to document the necessary repair works.
