Calypso Pool

Following a reported safety risk in spring 2019, Izzat was engaged by the owners of the Oaks Calypso Plaza on the Gold Coast,  to investigate the condition and safety of the outdoor swimming pool. 

Our investigation confirmed that the condition presented unacceptable risk for general use of the pool and we unfortunately had no choice but to close the pool. 

The concrete feature wall had deteriorated to such an extent that a large section had broken off into the pool below. We carried out a structural investigation and provided advice in respect of “make safe” options which allowed the pool to be re-opened for the summer holidays. 

The “make safe” solution included the use of stainless steel cables and fabric netting to restrain the concrete feature wall and ensure safe use of the pool. The works also included the replacement of sealant to floor joints, patch repairs to the pebblecrete pool finish, and repairs to the timber bridge. 

BRS were very efficient in completing these urgent works within a minimal time frame to meet the critical deadline.
