Izzat was engaged to assist with the structural engineering design and civil engineering stormwater components of the large family home in collaboration with Bourne Blue Architecture. 

Due to the exposed nature of the site, significant consideration was made in regard to environmental elements such as site specific wind and earthquake load analysis. Given the previous house was extensively damaged by an east coast low, significant waterproofing systems were incorporated into the structural and civil engineering systems of the house.

Concrete was the primary material used to ensure robust structural integrity of the project. A lot of this concrete was an exposed architectural finish. Special detailing and finishing of the concrete was required to provide an architectural quality finish. A special concrete mix design has provided a durable concrete structure that can withstand the harsh environment for decades to come.
